IRON DOORS Our doors are very heavy. The stiles (vertical members of a door frame) and rails (horizontal members of a door frame) are heavy-duty 14 gauge steel (the smaller the gauge number, the greater the steel thickness). Doors are 2" in. thick. It’s important to know that many iron doors on the market use prefabricated, 16 - 18 gauge steel to cut costs. These iron doors require much less expertise to assemble and can create problems as the door ages. The forged iron scrollwork in our doors is 5/8” and ¾" thick and is heated and bent by hand. We use no mass production pieces in our designs. We work primarily with a very durable and highly rust-resistant type of iron. Other lesser doors are made with ½" scroll work made of aluminum or plasma cut steel. The doors undergo a multi stage paint process that consists of a zinc phosphate solution rust inhibitor as well as two coats of primer and two coats of a tough high grade epoxy paint. After this process, doors are faux finished in your desired color. Paint is then sealed with clear urethane, producing an extreme-weather resistant door built to last. Functional interior glass panels equipped with clear 5/8" insulated dual pane glass are hinged to the interior side of the door to allow for ventilation and ease of cleaning. The glass panel closes flush with the interior side of the door. Although 5/8" insulated dual pane glass is standard, we can custom fabricate the iron panel to house the desired glass thickness. All iron doors include your choice of one of our custom hand-forged handle sets shown below:

WOOD DOORS An oil based stain is used to provide long-lasting wood tone color. It penetrates deep into the pores to seal and protect the wood. The finish is a urethane sealer or we can use a spar varnish if requested. Spar varnish is ideal to protect wood finishes in extreme climatic conditions. We also use heavy duty ball bearing hinges.
